The camp

From the age of 17, Juozas Eidukiavičius was in some of the harshest camps in the USSR, Inta and Vorkuta, both in the Komi Republic in the north of Russia. He was also in the Ozerlag, one of the huge Siberian camps in the Irkutsk region between Tayshet and Bratsk on the BAM, the railway built to double the Transsiberian.

He took part in a strike, an uprising, he escaped from one camp only to be recaptured shortly after.
